A Collaborative Endeavor

The workshop provided an invaluable platform for representatives from Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei and Yap  to convene, exchange ideas, and address common challenges in the current career and technical education programs. Throughout the week, participants engaged in a series of rigorous and interactive sessions designed to refine the list of occupations that will form the backbone of the new training curriculum for high school students.  These sessions were meticulously planned to ensure that each representative had ample opportunity to contribute their insights and expertise.  The workshop’s structure included brainstorming activities, group discussions, and expert-led presentations, all aimed at identifying the most relevant and promising career paths for FSM students. The interactive nature of the sessions kept participants engaged and motivated, resulting in a highly productive and positive atmosphere.

Finalizing the Occupational List

One of the workshop’s primary objectives was to finalize a comprehensive list of occupations that would be included in the new training curriculum.  This list is intended to reflect the unique needs and opportunities within each FSM state, positioning FSM students for success in a rapidly evolving job market.  The collaborative efforts culminated in the creation of a well-rounded and thoughtful list of occupations.

Looking Ahead

The successful conclusion of the Occupation Selection Workshop represents a significant milestone in FSM’s journey towards vocational excellence.  The new training curricula that will be developed during the implementation of the FSM Skills and Employability (SEE) project is expected to play a crucial role in empowering FSM high school students, providing them with the foundational skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in their chosen careers.

By working together, the FSM states are paving the way for a brighter and more prosperous future for their students and communities – It stands as a model of what can be achieved through dedication, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
