Yap Renewable Energy Development Project (2012 – 2016)

The Yap Renewable Energy Development Project will support the development of the power system in the State of Yap in order to reduce dependency on imported diesel. This will be achieved through the expansion of renewable power generation and improving the supply side efficiencies of power delivery.

The project will support (i) development of grid-connected wind power generation (about 1.5MW), (ii) development of grid-connected solar power (about 0.3MW), (iii) improved generation efficiencies of the existing diesel generation through a 1.8MW diesel generator to be operated during low demand periods, and (iv) provision of project management support and capacity building for the Yap State Public Services Corporation (YSPSC).
