Focuses on enhancing the sustainability and resilience of oceanic and coastal fisheries and marine habitats in the FSM.
Supported by:
World Bank

The Pacific Regional Oceanscapes Project, PROPER Project focuses on enhancing the sustainability and resilience of oceanic and coastal fisheries and marine habitats in the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM). It addresses critical challenges such as overfishing, weak governance, limited market access, inadequate data systems, marine degradation, and the increasing impacts of climate change.

The project’s objective is to strengthen institutional capacity, governance, and sustainable management of FSM’s fisheries, while also improving marine habitat protection and waste management systems. By targeting both environmental and economic vulnerabilities, PROPER aims to ensure long-term food security, support livelihoods, and promote a healthier marine ecosystem, contributing to a more resilient and sustainable fisheries sector across the country.
